September 23, 2019 – Psalm 98:4-6

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!  Psalm 98:4-6.

As I consider these words of praise to the Lord,  For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.  Isaiah 55:12.

Indeed, as the leaves of the trees burst out in the spring, and as they bear their fruit, and celebrate with colors of joy in the fall, they urge us to join them in their praise. Then the rivers clap their hands in joy, along side the sea as it roars.  The choir of creation recognizes God and His Greatness. Let our voices join in thanksgiving.

The fall season begins. How often we don’t recognize the songs of joy all around us, but we pronounce grumblings and complaints of what is not to our liking. When we recognize the gifts God gives us, we see our ‘grumblings’ cannot compare.

Recognizing the greatness of God, we understand there is no other, You have no rival, You have no equal, Now and forever, Our God reigns.   God sent Jesus to be our sacrifice for our sins.  Through Him we found our reason to rejoice and praise Him with steadfast faith.

Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.  Psalm 98: 7-9
