October 19, 2020 – Genesis 9:12-15
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.” Genesis 9:12-15.
We celebrate when we find a butterfly with iridescent colors; we enjoy a brilliant sunset as the sunsets. Yet a rainbow eclipses the wonder and awe of man. This is a message from God, a reminder of His covenant for all generations to not destroy living creatures in a flood.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that He cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11. A rainbow is our reminder of God’s Covenant and of His Eternal love.
O, God, our Promise-Keeper, we will never forget you promise to us signed by the rainbow. We often forget the Glory of You, help us to respond to Eternity by giving our hearts and souls to You. And just as you give us breath, may we use that breath to Praise and Rejoice in You. In Jesus’ Name, we pray, Amen.
“When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.” Genesis 9:16-17.
