November 18, 2015 – John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27Jesus left us with His Peace. We won’t find it in governments, we won’t find it in fashion, in possessions, or vacations. We find peace only through Jesus and welcoming Him to live in and through our hearts. It doesn’t stop in our hearts. In fact those who live with peace in their hearts through Christ Jesus find that their hearts overflow into the horizontal relationships with holy living. Work at living in peace. This does not include a ‘rant’ on facebook rallying everyone to your point of view. At best, this tactic is divisive.Peace comes from living a holy life – a life filled with love for others, doing good, forgiving and focusing on Jesus every moment and with every breath you take. WORK. That four letter word tells us it doesn’t just happen. It takes constant, moment by moment, renewal of our focus on Christ and His Presence in our life. Work at curbing the tongue lashings that naturally want to escape our lips in a moment of impatience. Work at trusting God to change people – love them and pray for them. Work at knowing God’s Word, for our strength comes through His Words, and His Words alone.Work at seeing his blessings and giving thanks to Him who loves us so. No other god died for his followers, and was raised again. Work at living a holy life. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2.And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18.Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14
