March 12, 2015 – I Thessalonians 5:15-17
See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thessalonians 5:15-17Living these verses is the ultimate in living…in joyous living. A life that follows and is, this kind of a person, knows Jesus. It is God’s will in Jesus for us.As a teen, I was asked to describe my choice in my mate-to-be. I described him as having brown eyes and dark hair. He would be tall and loving. As the years passed, my brown eyed and dark haired husband became almost blind, stooped and almost bald. Yet his loving and giving gentle spirit continues to reflect love and faithfulness. The will of God for us does not disappear as we grow older as our body does. Always seek to do good for others grows into one who rejoices, gives thanks and prays continually. Doing good to everyone teaches us to love and keep our minds focused on Jesus.Let us not grow weary of doing good… Doing good to everyone includes the act of encouraging others in continuing to do good and is like giving a hug. A hug boomerangs and the hug is given back. So is encouragement. A ‘thank you’ boomerangs into a ‘you’re welcome’. Rejoice, give thanks, pray and let the Son-Shine shine through you.And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9-10
