June 8, 2016 – John 1:4-5

The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.  John 1:4-5The light of our life comes from the Word.  The life of Jesus lived our example for living.  In the beginning, God created…all we see, above and below.  He created the light we see, and Jesus was  a part of all creation.  Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together. Colossians 1:15-17Nothing is more sad than a person that deceives himself into thinking he or she has the light of God when dark corners exist.  The true light fills every corner of our being.  There is no doubt only love.  There is no room for lies, pride or unbelief.  This true light of God brings the fruit of spirit – not just words – but living words that reach into the heart.  This true light motivates every thought, every word and every action we think, speak and do as the Holy Spirit teaches us. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!  Galatians 5:22-23.  When we live so these qualities motivate every thought, word and action, His light shines from deep in our hearts with no shadows.  Only through God Himself and His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit, is this kind of life possible.  Our example is Jesus and His relationships with people on earth.
