July 15, 2016 – John 17:22-23
“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” John 17:22-23As a young girl, I saw my Mom cry when my two brothers and I were arguing. She asked, “When I love all of you, how can you not love each other?” I have often wondered what our Lord God feels when he sees all those he has created and loves, fighting to the death. This is not God’s intended outcome of his children. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. I John 4:10-12This is not only in physical family, but the family of God. Those who belong together because they seek to love the Lord God, even as He loves us. How do we know someone is not of God — simple, he does not love, but hates. Our relationship with Jesus Christ is one of love. In the One and Only God, can there be unity among the people of the earth. A oneness that gives God glory.Jesus wants to share in his glory with us that he shared with God before the world began! To choose Jesus is to share more than glory – it is Life.
