July 18, 2016 – Revelation 5:11-12

Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” Revelation 5:11-12Worthy is the Lamb!  How often I have heard these scriptures, and never wondered about the word, worthy. The dictionary tells us, worthy means deserving effort, attention, or respect.  This is in reference to Jesus, the Son of God.  Jesus who loves us so, He left the glory of Heaven to live among the people of the earth to teach them to live a life of love.  Jesus was scorned, without honor among the people He came to teach.  He finally was whipped and scourged and crucified. He was buried in a tomb.  On the third day God raised his Son from the dead.  He appeared to many after his death, that they might believe.This same Jesus, the only religious leader to be raised from the dead, left in a cloud to join his Father God.  This same Jesus will come again to receive His People, those who follow Him only, will also be raised.All the elders and the angels greet Jesus with love and adoration.  And every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea will hear their song of adoration to Jesus as he sits on the throne!  To the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!This same Jesus who will be glorified on the throne, wants us with Him.  When we follow Him – we belong to Him.  We join in this glorious picture of Heaven that is ours when we are washed in His blood that makes us worthy and cleanses us from sin.  Forever and ever!  Come quickly, Lord Jesus!And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” Revelation 5:13
