July 12, 2016 – John 17:5-6

John17-5-6And now, Father, give me glory with you. Give me the glory I had with you before the world was made. “You gave me some people from the world. I have shown them what you are like. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me. They have obeyed your teaching.” John 17:5-6What is this glory Jesus wants from God?  What is this glory?  Why is glory so important?  In God’s Word, Glory, has other words that are linked to it.  After this I heard what sounded like a large crowd of people in heaven. The people were saying, “Hallelujah! Victory, glory, and power belong to our God.”  Revelation 19:1. The city did not need the sun or the moon to shine on it. The glory of God gave the city light. The Lamb was the city’s lamp.  Revelation 21:23.Light, victory, power are words are a part of God’s Glory.  Jesus, the lamb, lights Heaven with his glory.Think about the glory of God.  When we control the light in our world by switching the power off and on, we do not understand God’s Glory.  God spoke the sun and the moon into existence, an incredible power that is his alone.  We often think we have power, when we switch on the light in our room.  God’s light never goes out, His glory never becomes dim. This is the glory that Jesus enjoyed from the foundation of the world.  His total purpose in coming to earth is to bring a message to each of us from God, His Father.  He wants us to become God’s children – and for us to believe God sent Jesus to us and believe His Words.  Believing Jesus is turning on the God’s glory in our lives. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.  I John 5:7

Now they know that everything I have came from you. I told them the words you gave me, and they accepted them. They realized the fact that I came from you and believed that you sent me. John 16:7-8
