December 14, 2015 – Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3If we negate Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heavens and earth – our faith is non-existent.  The beginning of our faith is in the Words of God that created the wonder we see each day.  The Awe of God begins in His Creativity of Creation.  Faith cannot begin until we experience the Awe of God.  Faith includes believing things we see were made out of nothing, a void.Every act of ‘creativity’ from man came with that which God created out of nothing. Job 38 is a series of ‘Where were  you’ questions concerning creation.  This chapter is filled with the Awe of God.When we draw near to God in full assurance of our faith in and of Him, there is another awe – only Jesus our Lord God can purify us by forgiving our sins.  Never is a heart so clean as when we confess that Jesus is Lord and submit to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, even as Jesus was baptized.  Then we are sealed to God to walk like Children of the Light, the Truth and the Way.First, we make a choice…follow the world or follow Jesus in humility with our whole hearts.  This choice is an every day choice.  Choose this day Whom you will serve!Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
