December 11, 2015 – I John 1:5

IJohn1-5This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. I John 1:5Did you hear the message from him?  Do you proclaim the truth?  God is light!  From the time I was a little girl and enjoyed the lights on the Christmas tree along with the story of the birth of Jesus amid the lights and songs from Heaven, I equated light with the Lord God.  The Great Star – created by the God of Light, the angels who appeared from Heaven in streams of Light – all give me the joy of the knowing.Knowing that God is Light is not enough.  It is our response to the God of Light that makes the difference for us.  The world is temporary.  Darkness is temporary.  We are commanded to put on the armor of light.  Armor is a fighting word.  Armor means there is a battle.  A battle between good and evil – light and dark – righteousness and sin.Choosing light is not easy, for it isn’t chosen just once.  It is to be chosen seven times seventy times a day.  It is a battle, there is no easy way out, we must each choose — a matter of life and death.  It is not enough to rely on our parents’ faith, but study and work out our own salvation. The Armor of Light, The Lord God, will protect us.  He will give us peace no matter what the dark side of life throws at us.Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live;I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.  Psalm 146:1-2The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12
