August 23, 2018 – I Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. I Corinthians 13:4-7.

Love songs ring the world and yet, if we do not know God, we don’t know how to love.  I John 4:7-9 is the one true Love Story.  Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.  But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  God showed how much he loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.

We are often blinded to love because we don’t see as our Lord does.  But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  I Samuel 16:7.

When we question our ability to really love, read the opening verses over and over until you understand each word. Measure your ability to love and pray these words from Psalm 19:14 –May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer.   It is then, we learn to know what the words mean when we say… I Love You!

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13.
