August 16, 2017 – Revelation 22:1

Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb Revelation 22:1.

The first three verses of this book tells us where these words of revelation come from. This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place. He sent an angel to present this revelation to his servant John, who faithfully reported everything he saw. This is his report of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.  God blesses the one who reads the words of this church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near. (Revelation 1:1-3)

When was the last time you saw crystal clear water that contains life?  We search for bottled water that is free of contaminants. In Heaven the water of life is crystal and shining and pure.  I often think about John’s wonder, God’s messenger to us, as he wrote these words.

I heard my parents conjecture about growing a tree that bears different kinds of fruit.  The only way they could think this could be would be grafting in limbs of different fruit trees.  Jesus said, “But with God everything is possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

In today’s world as nations and groups are at war with others, we need the leaves of the tree of life to heal the nations.  All our desired healing and peace comes from God.

Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.  Psalm 73:25-26.

It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. Revelation 22:2.
