June 28, 2021 – 2 Corinthians 12:8-9
Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9.
Such a joy to hear these words, midst the physical pain and pains of the heart we all encounter. Outwardly we want to show we are strong enough to conquer all setbacks and failures.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4.
Steadfast faith comes from trusting and delighting in the One who created us. How is that possible when our culture teaches us to be independent and go our own way?
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2.
All that we see in this world will pass away, and only the our Lord God and His Son will remain.
Father, God, I pray for the wisdom that can only come by choosing to follow You. Though I sin, You will love me and grant me peace and joy, in your greatness. Without you, I am nothing. Hold me close, I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Nevertheless, I am continually with You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will receive me to glory. Psalm 73:23-24.
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10.
