Tech-Analogy

Finally it was time to get up. What will the day bring? Sitting down in the easy chair and easin’ into the desktop of the afore-mentioned Mac Wonder, I began Yahoo Messenger. Someone was trying to call me. Yay, it is my friend from across the ocean blue. When I tried to click the right keys, Yahoo notified me that I needed an update.

Never can keep up with all the updates. Must be what keeps us looking up and up and up and never caught-up. I downloaded the update. I began the MSN Messenger and began chatting with my friend from across the ocean blue. Nothing seemed to work. It looked all down hill from here. We both envisioned seeing and talking live but Tech Stuff was not cooperating. The fine print from the Beta version of Yahoo said, they are working on the sound.

Reminds me of the way my DH likes to watch TV with the sound down, all the time wondering and commenting on what is up.

Ah, there was Skype. What? download a new version of Skype. All of the moves up and down were chronicled on MSN Messenger criss-crossing the ocean blue. The desktop was littered with open windows.

Then came the message, “I can’t hear you.” Zipped the message, “Wait a minute, I will plug in the microphone and the earphones.” Another MSN message — “I can hear you plugging in.”

Then we had a connection. My isight webcam picture still fluttered with all my moves, but wasn’t going anywhere. MSN Messenger was still, and the icon no longer bounced in the idock. And we heard each other. Voices as clear as sitting in the same room.

After visiting for awhile, we knew it would come, we shut down the connection. But wait, the friendship is still up. For next Saturday we will try again to connect….and to see each other and talk. That is the upshot of all this Tech-Analogy.

Who says that Retired Folks can’t keep up! You can’t keep us down!
