February 11, 2020 – John 17:6-8

“I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from You. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you, and they have believed that You sent me.”  John 17:6-8.

Jesus has almost completed His Work on earth and wants to come Home. Remember the times you finished a job your father gave you?  Jesus tells His Father, He has let those know that truth comes from His Father in Heaven.  Jesus the Son is the Messenger, sent from God, to bring Truth.

This Truth is God’s Word. Believing God’s Word that Jesus is, sanctifies.  This sets the one who believes apart, making this person holy and purified.  Jesus’ death on the cross, and His resurrection on the third day is the price  Jesus pays for our sanctification.

Not only does God create us, but He provides a way for us to be His a second time through the death and resurrection of Jesus.  In believing, we follow through with actions of love.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,  bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Colossians 3:12-13.  We are called through love to serve one another.

“Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake, I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.”  John 17:17-19.
