December 9, 2019 – Isaiah 9:6
For to us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6.
Isaiah was a spokesperson, or prophet, to give mankind messages from God during the reign of kings who relied on political deals and foreign powers. Isaiah gave this prophecy 700 years before Jesus Christ was born. Isaiah’s words brought comfort and hope to the people in Jerusalem during that time.
In verse 7, the promise given to David is promised – a throne forever to restore sound leadership. How could this be? Through the passion of the Eternal Commander of heavenly armies. How can this be? And it came to pass, Jesus came to earth with promises of peace. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. When we believe in Jesus and walk in His way, and we become ambassadors for Him. In Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:19-20.
Why is this so? We love becauseHe first loved us. I John 4:19
Of the increase of His government and of peace, there will be no end, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. Isaiah 9:7.
