February 27, 2019 – Psalm 23:2-3

He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Psalm 23: 2-3.

As the years pass by, our bodies weaken, and thinking about an eternal rest is sweet.  This Psalm gives us the promises that is balm to our physical and spiritual weariness in this life.  For when our Spirit rests in our Lord God, and we allow Him to renew our strength and guide us in this world, His Rest comes into our hearts.

A dear friend send me a brief video of a little girl receiving her own copy of the Bible, and the young girl wept in joy.  This tiny girl brought me to this verse. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.  God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.  Matthew 5:5-6.  What a blessing to witness.  The Grandma Teacher held the little girl as she cried, “Thank you, Grandma!”  I could see God’s Love pouring out  as she repeatedly called the little girl, ‘My Love.’

God holds each of us close when we walk through the darkest valley. He blesses us and calls us, My Love!  Our Father God’s Holy Word comforts us and protects us in life.  Psalm 119:103 tells us, How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.

And then our Father God sent His Son into the world. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.  John 1:14.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid,  for You are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.  Psalm 23:4.
