July 22, 2015 – Psalm 103:12-14

As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. Psalm 103:12-14The compassion our Lord God has for us is boundless. His love is unconditional and when we fear Him, He shows his compassion for each of us. He forgives our sins.  Psalm 111:10 describes fearing the Lord this way – The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding.  His praise endures forever.This same compassion is a part of Who Jesus is.  When Jesus came to earth He had compassion for those He saw as he traveled through the cities and towns.  His compassion was not sitting back and staying idle.  He taught, He healed.  His compassion was heart-deep for people, as sheep without a shepherd.  He died on the cross because of His compassion for us.  When we follow Jesus, our sins are forgiven.Jesus is our Shepherd.  I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.  John 10: 11, 14.  With Jesus as our Shepherd, we are not helpless or hopeless.  We can steer through deep waters without fearing the deep shoals and hidden rocks of life.The question is remains, will we know the truth and become a laborer?  Where is our compassion?And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Matthew 9:35-37
