October 10, 2018 – John 1:1-3
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. John 1:1-3.
John began the story of Jesus, as an echo of Genesis 1:1. In the beginning…for years I accepted the Word as Jesus, but didn’t understand. Then I read The Voice translation and it is clear. The Word, Logos, is used as the name for Jesus. The Word is spoken by voice. God’s Word teaches us about Jesus… “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38.
In another portion of John -5:24, “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.”
Jesus lived in the beginning with God the Father, He always was, is, and will be. The Word, Jesus, gave life to all that was created. Jesus is the very Voice of God and brings light into the darkness of this world. The blessing of the words, ‘and the darkness can never extinguish it,’ brings us comfort, hope, and encouragement. The joy of knowing God through His Son Jesus, who gave His life on the cross because He loves us, tells us Who God is. God is love!
“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.” John 8:19.
