April 27, 2015 – Psalm 19:9-10
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Psalm 19:9-10What could be sweeter than honey? What could be more desired than fine gold? The Word of the Lord! The Word of the Lord leads us to wisdom, to peace, to trust, to joy, to goodness, to the way of Life for Eternity. When we are filled with ourselves, there is no room for the Lord and His Word. Why would we trust this old book that seems to be outmoded, we think. When our way becomes littered with broken pieces of our lives, we slowly learn to love the Lord. We begin to think on His Word, written by men, inspired by God and trust the Lord. The last step in this process is to walk in His Way and fully trust Him.When understanding fills our hearts, we become wise and discerning. Our speech becomes filled with peace-making and encouragement instead of anger, insults and crudity. Sweetness of speech makes room for caring and joy. It draws others to the Lord who loves. What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness? I Corinthians 4:21. A gentle spirit knows how to love with a forgiving heart.Again we have choices to make, not once, but every moment of our lives, in our relationships with others and with God. If we cannot forgive others as God forgives us, we lose much. We lose our way to life everlasting. Does it hurt? Yes, but not as much as when the nails pierced our Lord on the cross as He gave his life for each of us. Only through Jesus can we love, forgive and trust in this life, for we are filled with sin.We have one life on this earth to pray daily for forgiveness and to make wise choices. May we listen to our Father in Heaven and enjoy the sweetness of His Word every moment of this life.Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. The wise of heart is called discerning, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly. Proverbs 16:20-22
