June 7, 2016 – I Thessalonians 5:5-6

IThessalonians5-5-6For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. I Thessalonians 5:5-6God made us to be his children and live with Him.  That is why we feel often as if we don’t belong in this world.  That is such an uncomfortable feeling when we can’t feel ‘at home’.It takes perseverance to guard our hearts and minds from evil all around us.  When we think clearly we know we are His Children.  The word ‘How’ always comes to the front of our minds.  The ‘How’ and ‘Why’ of what is.. allows the entrance of moving toward the edge of a deep fall is a heart struggle for everyone.  How can we walk in the light when our choices  put out that light? His Word, the dusty pages of the Bible, teaches us about God’s way.  His Word lights our way and is our road map to walk with God.  No one can get lost in the maze of life with its temptations and dark places when we carry His Word in our hearts and minds. When I was a little girl, my Mother, my first teacher, taught me Bible verses more than eighty years ago.  These verses still reside in my heart and bring me the joy of walking in His Light.  Though the world scoffs  against the mere thought of an unseen God, Someone who created us, loves us, and cares daily for us.  Most of all He brings us Hope for tomorrow and all the tomorrows that wait for us.When we say there is no God, then we say there is no universe, stars, sunrises, or mountains.  For God created everything!  We have just said, we are not, when we say God is not.How do you light your path each day?  There is only One God and He is real.  He lives in us and through us. For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.  2 Corinthians 4:6Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
