Reflection on “My Hope Is in YOU all Day Long!” January 28, 2025

Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You, I wait all the day. Psalms 25:4-5.

What is hope? There are two kinds of Hope. One is temporal and one is God’s Will. We often quickly express a hope before even wondering what God’s will is first.

Some hopes are like an anchor for the soul. This hope  is an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become the High Priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19-20.

This is the Biblical definition of hope! For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. Psalm 71:5.

What other way of describing and finding Hope is there? Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not. Seen. For by the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3

What other virtues are tied to Hope? Paul includes hope with two other virtues—Love and Faith. Love comes from Heaven, from God Himself. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13.

I Corinthians is called the Love Chapter, so we understand how God and Jesus love us. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; where there is knowledge, it will vanish away. I Corinthians 4-8.

Jesus prayed for Himself and His disciples. He prays for all those who believe. “I do not pray for these alone but also for those who will believe in me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in me and I in You; and I in You; that they also may be one in Us that the world may believe that you sent me. John 17:20-21.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, from the dead,  an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. I Peter 1:3-5.

When we follow Jesus in our lives, we have a living hope. Our future is secure because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ because of the promise of eternal and resurrection life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17,

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:1-5.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself. Is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:4-7.

And now abide faith hope, these three; but the greatest of these is Love.  I Corinthians 13:12.

Set Your Mind. How are we commanded to follow in loving God? ”’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it. ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’” Matthew 22:37-40.

For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For You are our glory and joy!  I Thessalonians 2:19.
