December 10, 2015 – I Thessalonians 5:5
For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. I Thessalonians 5:5Children of light? What does that mean? It doesn’t mean turning on the light with a switch. Children of light means choosing Jesus to live in your heart — for He is Light.Children of light means joy deep down within. No matter how life seems to you, joy is always there, and that joy in Jesus contains hope and strength. Some time, when it is dark outside, turn on the light. Then there are no shadows that are scary. Everything is bright and clear. You know that light makes everything safe. Now turn out the light. Immediately everything you saw in the light cannot be seen. The shapes in the night seem to be things that you would be afraid of. It doesn’t seem safe. When you walk, you stumble, because you cannot see the dangerous places.Walk as children of light means to be confident and sure that you know where you are going. Not only in this life, but years from now, you will walk right into Heaven. That is the path you will follow in the light – straight to Heaven to live with Jesus.Walk as children of the light also means telling the truth, loving each other, being kind, good, gentle, and patient. This is the way Jesus walked here on earth. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8
