Syncing…

The wonders of modern technology sometimes (often) astound me.  The convenience of syncing between the iphone and the ipad puzzled me.  When I visited my husband in the Alzheimer’s Facility, I wanted to take a picture of him to share with my children.  I snapped his picture and came home.  I checked the ipad to email the photo to myself to resize and clarify.  It wasn’t there.  It had not ‘synced’.  An electronic mystery to me.
I wondered what protocol I was not following, for everything in life follows a protocol.  The way that gets the results we want to see.  Synchronization is a way of creating a harmonious relationship between two objects.  Not just objects but a harmonious relationship between two or more people.  This harmonious relationship between two or more people cannot be legislated, declared with a word or two uttered once.
Our history books are filled with stories of people who cannot agree about anything…down through the ages.  People have been imprisoned, tortured and enslaved because they have not found the protocol that can be the road to peace and love.  The gentle spirit that each of us possess is smothered by our pride and selfishness and greed.
Rifts in families are caused by unforgiveness and discontent.  How can this be?  Marriages begin with the “I Do…” and somewhere down the line it becomes, “I Don’t!”  How can these broken ‘syncs’ in a family be mended?  Broken ‘syncs’ don’t stay in just one generation.  It creeps through the following generations as well unless somewhere, the “I Do” becomes the protocol for syncing in a family.
What is the foundation and genesis of the synchronization of harmonious relationship begin among men.  And on what basis can this harmonious relationship happen?  In today’s culture, the age of tolerance has become an attitude of intolerance.  The beauty of harmony is that comes from only one place and begins with LOVE.
It isn’t the kind of Love that has exceptions – it is born of God, Who is Love.    And when His Love reigns in our hearts, true peace begins.  This is syncing with the author of Love and all those qualities that begin with humility.
Is that all there is?  It is the beginning of the protocol of syncing with God.  The following verses give us snapshots of a beginning of a harmonious relationship – syncing with God, who gives us life everlasting.  It is a syncing of our hearts with the Author of Life, the One who began our hearts beating.
King David understood the depth of the importance of belonging to God.  Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.  Psalm 73:25-26
~~~Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.  But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  I John 4:7-8
~~~ Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.  Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.  Hebrews 11:1-3
~~~Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6
~~~Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.  A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever.  So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John 8:34-36
~~~ Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.  Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
~~~ Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Colossians 3:12
~~~In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.  II Corinthians 5:5-7
~~~ But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!  Galatians 5:22-23
~~~ Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.  Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. Galatians 5:24-26
All of these verses, and more, give us an idea of how we begin sync with God.  Of course, there is the one other part to this syncing with God and living for and with Him.  It is our choice and our soul-need to desire God’s righteousness that completes the synchronization of harmonization.  The following verses add more dimensions our relationship with God.
~~~ As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When shall I come and appear before God?  Psalm 42:1-2
~~~ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:33-34
~~~ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.  Matthew 5:6
