September 7, 2017 – Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20
Several weeks ago, I painted a board to place by my front door. It’s message with flowers and says, “WELCOME!”
Then I began wondering about the welcome message…would I welcome everyone, or pick and choose? As I read this scripture, I realize Jesus is saying, ANYONE WHO HEARS MY VOICE! There is an AND. And OPENS the door!
Can you imagine eating with Jesus and sitting across the table with you in your home? Do you need time to hide certain things? Do you remind yourself to watch your language? What will you feed him? Is the furniture worthy of Jesus, or will you have go buy all new chairs?
John 14:27 – “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” Jesus is concerned about your heart! It is not the things of the world that concerns Him. You can say – Jesus gets to the HEART of things.
To him who overcomes….! John 16:33 – I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. Jesus overcame the world, and when we hear Jesus knocking at our heart and welcome Him – He strengthens our will to overcome temptation and evil!
He invites us, in our victory over sin and death, to sit with Him on His throne, even as He did! Matthew 7:21 – “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.
All we have to do is listen for the knock, open the door of our hearts, and welcome Jesus and live for and with Him!
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Revelation 3:21
