September 5, 2017 – John 19:4-5
Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.” So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!” John 19:4-5.
What did Pilate try to tell the chief priests and officers? He tried to show the royalty of Jesus by clothing him in a purple robe. And the mocking crown of thorns on his head bit into his skull.
This is black and white picture. The contrast of darkness and light. Pilate could not find any guilt in Jesus. Jesus said, I am the light of the world. Yet he chief priests and the officers could not see the Light of Jesus. They walked in darkness.
They shouted, Crucify him! Crucify him! These wicked men of darkness could not turn out the Light of Jesus, even though they crucified Him. Jesus was raised from the dead…He conquers the darkness of death. A wise man often said, “The end of our story when we walk in the Light of Jesus is — We Win!
The World walks in darkness – and when we follow Jesus, we have the Life of Light. Which means we are filled with Hope, Joy, Peace! What is our choice when presented Jesus in our lives? Crucify Him or Follow Him? This is an individual choice – Behold the Man Jesus? What is your answer?
