September 27, 2016 – Hebrews 6:18
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. Hebrews 6:18Our Lord God is Truth. He cannot lie. He will not change His mind. We can trust Him and His promises. He is All In for each of us. We can be sure to find safety in His great Love, God cares for us.Just as an anchor steadies a ship on the high seas in a storm, God’s anchor of hope steadies us in the storms of life. The Children of Israel, rescued from slavery in Egypt and led through the wilderness to the Promised Land, is a picture of how God releases us from the slavery of sin. The door post, covered with blood of sacrifice of a lamb to save the first born son from the death angel is also a picture. Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross. He gave his life to save us. Jesus, raised from the dead by His Father God, becomes our door to eternal life. When we trust, as a child, in the hope of Jesus, we are on a great adventure. We travel through this world by the Light of the World – Jesus. We can approach God at any moment. We can pray to Him before a test, when we are hurt, when we are in danger, when we are sick, He is always available to be our anchor. Through Jesus we receive the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts to guide, lead and teach us the way each moment of our lives. But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. Psalm 5:11This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Hebrews 6:19
