September 25, 2019 -Psalm 92:1-4
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of Your hands, I sing for joy. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Psalm 92:1-4.
Thirty-seven times in Psalms alone, it says to give thanks to the Lord. Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all his wondrous works! Psalm 105:1-2.
We thank our Lord for the air we breathe, and the food He provides. We thank Him for all the works of His Hands. The greatest is sending Jesus to give us Salvation. His death and resurrection transforms us into fruit-bearing beings who never die. John Peterson put this thanks-giving into his lyrics: It took a miracle to hang the stars in place, But when He saved my soul, Cleansed and made me whole. It took a miracle of love and grace.
Whose love is steadfast like a rock? Who can forgive us of our sins? Who has the power to transform our hate-filled attitudes to bearing the Fruit of Comforter? Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self-Control? Galatians 5:22-23. Great is the Lord!
They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Psalm 92:12-15.
