IThessalonians5-5You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. I Thessalonians 5:5-6One Sunday evening, I sat near the front of church, and my mind was drawn to the intricate shadow of the blooming poinsettia on the wall of the stage. The contrast between vibrant color and darkness caught my attention.  The promise in Revelation 21:25 — Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there...  God is our light, there is no need for man-made electricity.  There is no need for bulbs that burn out or nite-lights to keep us from stumbling. The thought of being children of light – gives me hope.  Darkness is a fearsome place.  King David said, “For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.” Psalm 36:9In humility I draw near to your Word, and praise you.  For you, Lord, hold me close to you. You keep my soul in touch with you.  Only You, O Lord, can turn my darkness into everlasting light in the brilliance of your glory.  Praising God!You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. Psalm 18:27-28
