September 16, 2020 – I John 2:9-10
Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in Him, there is no cause for stumbling. I John 2:9-10.
God created light on the First Day and separated it from darkness. Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.
Who brought love to man? We are commanded to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind; and to love one another. The essence of God is Love.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. John 15:12-14.
Our lives are lived in response to God’s Love. His Son lay down his life for us. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
Dear Father of All Love, teach us to love one another as You love us through Jesus Christ your Son. Guide our steps as we struggle to live in the Light of Your Word. We humbly pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. Psalm 33:4-5.
Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He made to us—eternal life. I John 2:24-25.
