Reflection on “The Heavens Are Telling the Glory of God!” August 20, 2024

The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; yet their voice goes out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. Psalm 19:1-4.

Actions speak louder than words, it is said!  When I first walked into the Pacific Ocean, I was astonished at the pull of the power of the water. I became aware in that moment that when Jesus calmed the wind and the sea, He was obeyed. And they went and woke Him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” And He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a dead calm. They were amazed, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Matthew 8:25-27.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.  Proverbs 23:7(a). (KJV) The heart that belongs to God will follow Him and seek His righteousness!  An example we read in verse 5 – In the heavens, He has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy and like a strong man runs its course with joy! Psalm 19:6

Has it been rather hot this summer for you? God laid out the course of the sun in verse 6. Its rising is from the end of the heavens and its circuit to the end of them and nothing is hidden from its heat.  Psalm 19:6.

What do laws, decrees, precepts, and ordinances, the fear of the Lord, have in common? They are of the Lord! Each is described as perfect, sure, right – rejoicing the heart, clear – enlightening the eyes, fear of the Lord is pure – enduring forever. The ordinance of the Lord is true and righteous altogether.

Should we obey these laws, decrees, precepts, and commandments? Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.

He is our Way, He is the truth and He is LIFE eternal! Listen to Jesus, He is our way to God! More to be desired are they than gold; sweeter also than the dripping of the honeycomb.” Psalm Moreover, by them is your servant warned. 19:10-11.

For there is no distinction since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. But who can detect one’s own errors? Clear me from hidden faults. Psalm 19:12.

O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up. You discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.  Psalm 139:1-5. This is the same chapter that has these verses that tell me how much God loves each child!

For it was You who formed my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed. Psalm 139:13-16.

Keep back your servant, also from the insolent.; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless and innocent of great transgression.  Psalm 19:13.

To ask God to answer this prayer takes a believing and faithful heart. Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24.

One day, I chanced upon this scripture and realized that no matter I how much I planned, I cannot achieve what I planned unless it follows God’s plans.  I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:.6.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9.

Therefore, the last verse of Psalm 19 is my prayer. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14. Amen!
