October 7, 2016 – 2 John 1:6

2john1-6Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. 2 John 1:6God commands us to love one another. That shows Him that we love Him.  This is a constant before the world was made, it isn’t an ‘add-on’.  We cannot say, Mondays are bad, so we declare it a “No-Love Day”.  No one has a day off from loving others. We can become distracted from loving one another and wonder away from God, when we do not focus on His love.  There are no maybe’s, kinda loving or part time loving one another.  It is 24/7 loving one another no matter what. What if…..no what if’s with God.  Love is all about relationship.  Love is the relationship God requires.  We are made to connect to others in a relationship.  When we begin our walk with God and develop a daily walk with Him…we also have a relationship with Jesus.  Removing one or the other obliterates a part of the picture God planned before He created you and me.  If there is room in our hearts to love God, there is room to make the painting complete with the teachings of Jesus. What did Jesus teach and live?   “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:36-40Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.  2 John 1:9
