October 4, 2016 – Philippians 1:8-9
God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. Philippians 1:8-9Apostle Paul, with Timothy, wrote this letter to the people of Philippi, long ago. What, you ask, can I learn from an old letter? It could have been written just yesterday. Have you ever wondered as you sat in the school room, when you could begin ‘living’? I have. I felt that sitting in school learning to read, spell and ‘cipher’ a waste of time. Often the numbers danced before my eyes, and I learned the art of day dreaming of what will be. It never included school. Now, years later — I can’t wait to study each day. The whole world teaches me and the Bible is my Textbook of what matters in this life. It is no dreaming or wishful thinking, learning about Jesus. School taught me the tools I need now to study. I desire to live a pure and blameless life – for Jesus is returning to take us Home.Do your best to be the kind of person God will accept, and give yourself to him. Be a worker who has no reason to be ashamed of his work, one who applies the true teaching in the right way. 2 Timothy 2:15.Love, peace and pure living matter. Our choices and responses in this life matter to God. Our choices and responses matter to us in death and we begin in this life. All of us matter to God!For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. Philippians 1:10
