October 29, 2015 – Matthew 7:25-27

Matthew7-25-27Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 7:25-27Jesus told stories to teach truths.  Do you understand how important it is to build a whole house on a foundation  that won’t shake?  When a storm of wind and water beat at a house, it can crumble.  It is the same way when we live our lives.  We are a house.  When bad things happen to us and we don’t have something or someone to believe in, we fall apart like the house on the sand.We have an answer, did you see that little phrase, But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolishJesus wants us to listen to Him.  He knows he is the foundation of our lives, and we won’t fall apart if we obey.  Is it easy to obey, to mind, your parents?    No.  We want to do what we want to do.  God sent us parents to teach us to obey, and to love Jesus so much, we want to obey Jesus and God’s Word.  It all comes down to loving our Lord God with all our hearts.  That is how we know we are living in Him when we love Him — all the way.Close your eyes and imagine the rain beating in your faces.  Imagine the the wind blowing against you until you can hardly stand.  What will you do?  There is only one thing to do, love Jesus.  He loves you, He chose you, He wants you.  When you belong to Him — He is your foundation for every wind that tries to knock you down. This is a choice — a choice that lasts longer than choosing cherry pie or apple pie.  It is a choice of life or death.  What will you choose?  Remember, practice, by minding your Dad and Mom, and listen for the voice of Jesus inside of you.But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. I John 2:5
