October 14, 2020 – John 1:45-47

Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” John 1:45-47.

Jesus knew Nathanael as a man who tells the truth, and knows the truth when he hears it.  When presented with the answer to his question, How do you know me? Nathanael changed his mind about Jesus.  “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

There is no where we can hide from God, His Son, or the Holy Spirit.  We have no secrets from God. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.  Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. Psalm 139:2-4.

Dear Father God, help me to know fully that God is God, and I am not. I will never be as wise as God. Help me to serve Him with all my heart, trust in Him.  In Jesus Name, I pray.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37:5.

Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” John 1:48-50.
