October 14, 2019 – Psalm 107:1-3
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north and from the south. Psalm 107:1-3.
How many ways is God good? When things seem difficult for us in life, we wonder about the ‘good.’ We are more prone to complain than to give thanks to anyone for anything. This morning, I realize the day would begin with darkness. Then the dawn began lighting my day with joy and thanksgiving.
And we give thanks to God the Father for creating the Sun and sending God the Son to the earth and declaring, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12.
Without the goodness of God there would be no light and there would be no steadfast love. Without God’s steadfast love enveloping us with joy and peace, there would be no Hope for us, only darkness.
How can we thank God? We can sing our thanksgiving to You, O Lord, and make melody with all that is within us. Living each moment of our lives embracing righteousness, holy living and praying: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14.
I will sing and make melody with all my being! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Psalm 108:1-4.
