The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. Matthew 16:1-3Avid weather watching is easier with online forecasters creating a weather event more dramatic than anticipated by the Authentic Celestial Weather Prognosticator with a purpose in mind. They always precede their verbal ramblings with “When will it rain?” or “When will it stop raining?” (I thought they were supposed to ‘know’!)There are storehouses of rain and snow. The wind is in his control. There are no middle men studying maps and changing the forecast every hour. Example: Jeremiah 51:16 –When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. (Psalm 135:7, Jeremiah 10:13, Job 37:6, Job 38:22, Psalm 148:8 and Isaiah 55:10)Of course, Jesus is talking about His second coming. Can we read the times? Not in our times of years and months and days. Many have tried. But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Matthew 24:36.But there are plenty of scriptures that tell us what to do to be ready for his coming… even when we think it is our right to grumble and argue! Freedom of speech and all that. It IS our right to be children of God without fault, to shine like stars in the sky and hold firmly to the word of life. That is it! This is our legacy as children of God. I challenge you, I challenge myself, not to not be a grumbler or complainer. The rain is pouring down today, washing the earth clean. May it wash my heart clean of divisiveness and complaining. Yes, Lord, Yes!
