November 9, 2020 – Psalm 37:4-5

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37:4-5.

Mother quoted these verses over and over.  As a young girl catapulting through life, I had no idea of the joy and peace, this phrase holds…delight yourself in the Lord.

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!  Psalm 8:34.  It is when our hearts, our minds, and our souls are committed completely to the Lord, can we understand the depth of delight He brings.

The things you desired before becoming His were perishable.  Our desires change as our commitment and trust in our Lord grows. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?  Mark 8:36.  It is only through delighting in all the Lord is, that we long for the Light of Righteousness.  We fret over the darkness a night light brings, when righteousness brings a guiding light to salvation.

Dear Lord God, may I humbly wait for You in all things.  You are my Light and my King.  Help me to discern between the world on earth and the glory of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.  I pray in His Name. Amen.

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? Mark 8:36.

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.  Psalm 37:23-24.

He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Psalm 37:6-7.
