Job37-1a2aGod’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the sow, Fall on the earth, and to the rain shower, Be a mighty downpour. So that everyone he has made may know his work…he stops all people from their labor. Job 37:5-7With wintery weather on the way, I wondered what the scripture says about snow.  Snow is a time of dread, cold, being stuck in a vehicle or at home.  Then I find out that God controls the snow and commands it to ‘fall on the earth’.  Why?Now I know why.  Snow and its discomforts are a bookmark in our minds to remember our Creator.  How often our minds dwell more on the discomforts and our tempers grow short!  How much more should we praise and worship our Lord God for His Creation. It is a reminder that the best is yet to come.  It is a reminder that He has not abandoned us. He loves us.  In our stress, we remember that joy begins with praise and thank you after thank you, to our Lord.Isaiah says it in the most understandable way.  God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts.  There is a purpose for rain and snow, coming from Heaven.  It waters the earth and makes seeds grow to make bread for us to eat.  This is a picture of His Word being spoken and read. This accomplishes His purpose for which He sent the Word.Dear Lord, I treasure and hunger for your Word.  It is my sustenance and my joy to know you through these words.  When others call me strong, I know the secret of strength.  It is only through you can I endure each day.  May your will be always my will.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:9-11
