November 12, 2015 – I John 1:1

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. I John 5:1What is the first thing we want from our Moms?  We want them to love us and think we are wonderful.  When they give us love and encourage us in everything we do – we want to obey them. We even accept their suggestions and their rules.In God’s love there is freedom.  When someone wants to control us, we feel tied up and want to be free.  When we believe Jesus is our Lord, and know He gave his life for us, we love Him.  We love Him because He first loved us.When we love Jesus, we become friends of God.  Is this big?  It is very big.  When we love Jesus and become friends of God — we are on the winning team.  This is the God that makes the sun rise every day.  This is the God who puts the stars out at night, and knows every name, just like He knows your name.  This is the God who has your name written on the palm of his hand. (Isaiah 49:16)But wait.  How can we be sure we are loving God’s children?  When we obey God’s rules.  It isn’t ours to determine what to mind.  When we love Him, it isn’t hard to do.  How much does God love us?Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life.  John 3:16 ERVThat is LOVE!!!We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:2-3
