May 29, 2018 – Isaiah 48:12-13

“Listen to me, O family of Jacob, Israel my chosen one!
I alone am God, the First and the Last. It was my hand that laid the foundations of the earth, my right hand that spread out the heavens above. When I call out the stars, they all appear in order.” Isaiah 48:12-13.

God speaks to his chosen Israel – “I alone am God, the First and the Last.” How easy it is to put things before God and begin worshipping the things God created.  The Israelites began worshipping other gods they saw and worshiped them instead of the God they cannot see!

Without our God, our world would not be. There would not be the earth we stand on.  There would not be the sun, moon, or stars.  We would not BE either.  The sentence that gives us the understanding of His power is this:  When I call out the stars, they all appear in order.

As a teacher, I asked my students to walk in order – in a single file, down the hallway.  Some days this seemed impossible.  What other words describe the ‘order’ God wants for the stars? Peacefulness, calmness, and quietness are three of the descriptions of orderly.

In Order, describes the way God desires we live on this earth.  Our Creator teaches us what is good for us.  He leads us to live in the paths we are to follow in an orderly and lawful fashion.  To the world, letting God lead us is ‘out of the box’ living. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13

This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:  “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow. Isaiah 48:17
