May 25, 2016 – Psalm 136:13-15

Psalm136Give thanks to him who parted the Red Sea. His faithful love endures forever. He led Israel safely through, His faithful love endures forever. but he hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea. His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:13-15King David knew about the exodus of the people from the land of the Egypt.  Why?  Because this is a Story of the Faith in God handed down generation after generation.  The Faith of Abraham in God, led him to follow God’s commands. When I lost a baby and then a miscarriage, I drew strength from the Faith Story of my Grandmother.  She lost four babies. When I fell and broke a wrist bone, and a shoulder bone, I drew strength from her. She managed to care for her family through her pain.  When it became evident I was to become a caregiver for my husband, I drew strength from my other Grandmother who cared for her paralyzed husband until his death.  Each of us has a hurtful tragedy in our heart – how do we respond?Do we recognize God’s leading in our lives?  Where do we draw strength to travel on?  Moses and the people were rescued from slavery in God’s Way.  How did the people of Israel respond?  They chose to sing praise to the Lord.  The happening wasn’t karma or happenstance, but God’s blessedness.  God saved Israel from famine, through Joseph’s darkest hour of betrayal of his brothers.  But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:20This morning, I listened to the lyrics of a song, sung by the composer, sent to me by my son-in-love. The lyrics begin – Through it all, Through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus, I’ve learned to trust in God…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvIxwc90BEI.Our Lord God is faithful, He is my strength and my song.  He has been in the beginning and in every age, waiting for us to sing praises to Him.  Through it all, we learn to trust in God and His One and Only Son, Jesus.  For His faithful love endures forever!

Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; he has hurled both horse and rider into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him! The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is his name! Exodus 15:1-3
