May 24, 2017- Galatians 3:4-6
Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith— just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”? Galatians 3:4-6
Do you begin the day with expectations high, or with dread for the heartache waiting? Do you begin the day with a broken shoe string? Or do you knot it and carry on? The difference is hope and faith in Jesus Christ instead of the despair of the law. Jesus Christ gives us a way of truth coupled with a true servant heart of love.
Abraham is considered righteous by God. Why? Because of his great faith, trust, and belief in God, the Father.
Abraham was promised a son, he was promised many children when he had none. He believed. He was commanded to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, born in his old age. He was halted at the last moment and a lamb was found in the bushes to sacrifice. God sacrificed his only Son Jesus and raised Him from the grave to walk again. Why? Because God is Love. God’s Love is greater than death!
Because Abraham believed, we are the ‘Gentiles’ saved by faith. God plans ahead – long before we are born. What is our response? Are we of ‘the faith’? If so, we are blessed along with Abraham if we believe Jesus is the Christ, the only Son of God. Is it too much to ask? No! Believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – This an eternal decision we make lasting long after we live this life on earth.
True faith changes our thinking, our hearts, and our lives. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-3
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. Galatians 3:8-9
