May 22, 2019 – John 8:12
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12.
There are many kinds of darkness in this world. From the time we are born we begin to learn, because we desire understanding. This is sometimes called enlightenment.
Not only did God create the light we see coming from the Sun and the Moon, He gives us the understanding and longing for eternity. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11.
The Time of Perfection is coming. Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. I Corinthians 13:12.
What will clarify our sight and our understanding? When Jesus comes back to the earth to gather those who believe in Him. How can that be? Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26.
What set the world into motion? God is Love! Why did Jesus come to earth? God loves us! How can we respond to God’s Love? Obey God’s commands, as Jesus taught us, Love God and love one another! Then we walk in His Light, leading us to Life Eternal! This truth makes us free!
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
