May 18, 2015 – Psalm 19:7-8
The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Psalm 19:7-8One of the most meaningful exercises during a Women’s Retreat was going alone for a walk in a wooded area and choose whatever item we saw that reminded us of God and God’s love. We were to share the connection with the other ladies during a worship service. After almost a year of writing Journal-Snippets, verses pop into my head to clarify what I am writing. Our vision is blinded to what God is and does in our lives unless we open our eyes to Who He is.The world rates skydiving and bungee diving and mountain climbing as risk taking events in our lives. Yet the ‘life and death’ risk is far greater when we ignore God’s Word as platitudes and fables. It takes a courageous and strong person to turn to the Book of Instruction! For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17What is the promise for meditating on the Sword of God day and night – with obedience? The Lord your God is with you wherever you go…. We don’t pack the Word of God, or simply carry it on the smart phone in our pocket. We memorize and live with The Word of God – in our hearts.Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:8-9
