March 31, 2015 – John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1Beginnings have a mystery and wonder about them. A new day, a new year, a new life, a new What happened in the beginning. Books and books have been written about the beginning of the universe. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1.Just ten words describes the greatest beginning and what God created — and yet many books are written to circumvent the genesis of the beginning. Man, from the Garden of Eden has tried to circumvent by inventing a God-less beginning. A beginning that erases the God’s glory in their own minds, but never the reality of who God is and what He spoke into being.Man speaks and speaks and speaks – but is never able to equal the glory of God’s Word, Jesus, who existed in the beginning with God. The verses that follow John 1:1 bring us the wonder of Jesus, they are his job description. There is no way we can say Jesus is JUST a teacher. He is much more than that.Nothing was created without Him. Everything was created through Him. Jesus gave life to everything that was created. His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, a darkness that can never darken the light. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. I Thessalonians 5:5….Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light. John 12:36.Children of Light. We are children of light for when we are in Jesus there is no darkness at all. Jesus provides our Bread of Life, our Living Water, our Purpose in Life — and He is the Light of our Life, our Love and Forgiveness and our Rest.In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:11-13He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:2-5
