March 16, 2015 – 2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9The unending patience of God is for us, to give us time to repent and not perish. God is always on time. As we rush to the end of our time on earth, He stands quietly waiting. He is waiting for us to realize our need for Him. We are impatient with things as they are, and yet, He has been there all the time.“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” Matthew 5:3. The Message says it clearly. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (NIV). Another way to say this, is when we are filled with ourselves, there is no room for God.As we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus, we stand securely in our salvation. We grow in spirit and truth, We hunger and thirst after righteousness. We call out to God, as Isaiah called long ago, “Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.” Isaiah 33:2 And He hears us.You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Psalm 27:17-18
