June 28, 2018 – Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:26-27.

In what way are we created in the image of God?  Is it our hair color, our eye color, or any other part of our appearance? God created many shades of color, not only in our world but also human beings.  What part of us is able to reflect God?

What makes a tree a tree, a flower a flower, or a specific animal a lion, an elephant or dog? It is only the human beings He created — male and female — in His Image.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  I Samuel 16:7.  Is this a clue?  And in Psalm 7:9, we find, End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God.

It is our inner being, our soul and our heart, where God dwells. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14.

Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Genesis 1:28.
