JesusMorningStarBecause of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, I Peter 1:18-20That moment before I am fully awake, my first thought is to pray for family and friends who God places on my mind.  As I check the clock, I wonder if my dear husband is awake from his dream-filled slumber. He no longer distinguishes between dreams and being awake.  His dreams become his reality.  Dementia plays havoc with his mind.  Yesterday eve he suddenly decided to go to church, his son would come for him.  Finally I texted his son, and he called to tell his Dad, he decided against going….and then my dear husband relaxed. His willingness to prepare to go reveals his mind, purpose-driven for Christ. Mom’s entry in her journal, January 9, 1992 – “If I want God to speak to me, I must keep an open mind to listen.”   My dear husband is listening. The scripture above paints an understandable picture (for us) of Jesus. We can picture a brilliant star that commands the morning sky. I wonder, that moment just before arising, does our heart turn to the Author of our Faith? Do our thoughts seek His Will for our lives this very day?  Do we listen for His Wisdom that brings joy and peace into our lives?  Do we thrill at the touch and understanding from Abba, our Father?Mom wrote this poem when she could no longer take her Morning Walk.I push the curtains of my mind aside To free each morning thought to romp and run. And see what secrets nature might provide Before night dew is heat-dried by the sun. / A pale moon hangs upon the western sky And like the lingering mist will disappear,/ Red-feathered warblers perched on pines nearby, Repeat, “Rejoice! Another day is here.” / Blue violets nod beside a running brook That sings of rushing time. As day begins I turn toward home. Now sun invades my nook With gold to view my dew-drenched moccasins. / Today my heart will echo, note by note, The happy hallelujahs nature wrote.” (ADS)Dear Abba Father, we give thanks for the joy You give us in so many ways.  We thank You for the lessons You teach us each day.  The world’s hold on our lives lessens each day as You teach us your wisdom and we grow to be more like You.  From the Morning Star to the Evening Star, You guide our footsteps and thoughts.  During the night, you give us peace in our slumber….Praise you….praise you!  In Jesus’ Name,  the Morning Star, Amen
