June 18, 2019 – Psalm 37:3-4

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4.

As I read and re-read these two verses, the power verbs catch my attention first. Trust and do good. When we trust God, we BELIEVE and learn that God is TRUSTABLE in all things.

Dwell in the land and befriend Faithfulness. In this era of social media, it isn’t how many ‘friends’ follow you on Facebook, but how we reflect God the Father and follow Him in His Faithfulness.  How is God faithful to us? He loves us, He created us in His Image.

Our God forgives. Matthew 18:20-21. Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.”  When we forgive, we are delighting ourselves in the Lord. This delight is not fleeting, but leads to to enjoying the desires of our heart.

The longer I live on this earth, the more my desire is that my children’s children, and those who come after, delight in salvation and refuge in the Lord. May they depend on the Lord in times of trouble.

Delight in the Lord begins in love and obedience and forgiveness. Job 22:21-22. Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. Receive instruction from his mouth,  and lay up His words in your heart.

Our delight is in our Father in Heaven.

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them because they take refuge in Him. Psalm 37:39-40.
